Counseling Support
At Excel Academy, we are dedicated to fostering each student's development, including their social-emotional well-being and executive functioning skills. Our dedicated Educationally Related Mental Health Services (ERMHS) team works collaboratively with educators and families to ensure students receive the support identified by their Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. This comprehensive support aims to help students thrive academically and personally, addressing challenges related to social skills development, emotional regulation, and behavioral self-management.
One-on-One Skill Building
Our team provides one-on-one sessions to help students navigate challenges like managing worries, understanding their feelings, and developing effective ways to respond to situations. These personalized sessions offer a safe space for students to work on self-regulation, improve their ability to focus, and enhance their problem-solving skills. We work together to set personal goals, such as improving social interactions or expressing emotions constructively, equipping students with essential tools for school and life.
Group Learning and Connection
Beyond individual support, Excel Academy offers group sessions two times weekly where students can learn and practice new social and emotional skills with their peers. These groups focus on areas like building friendships, working through disagreements, and improving communication. Through engaging activities and discussions, students gain confidence, learn from each other's experiences, and build a sense of belonging. This shared learning environment helps students apply new strategies in a supportive social setting, strengthening their ability to connect with others.
Immediate Support
We understand that students may sometimes face overwhelming moments. That's why our ERMHS team is prepared to provide immediate support when students are experiencing distress. Our staff is trained to help students de-escalate challenging emotions and find calm. We also work closely with families to connect them with additional community resources if ongoing support is needed beyond the school day. This collaborative approach ensures that students receive consistent care, reinforcing our commitment to their well-being and progress.
